FUELLING STARTUP VILLAGES WITH CIRCULAR BIOECONOMY STRATEGIES

FoodCoP is an ambitious initiative aimed at redefining food systems across Europe’s Startup Villages through circular bioeconomy solutions. Launched in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, it aligns with the EU’s vision for revitalizing rural areas by 2040, supporting sustainable growth and innovation.

By fostering interregional collaboration, FoodCoP promotes the adoption of sustainable practices in the agri-food sector, already a cornerstone of the EU bioeconomy, with a turnover of €2.2 trillion and employing 17.5 million people. It brings together diverse stakeholders, including regional networks, SMEs, research centers, and knowledge hubs, to co-create transformative solutions for food systems.

Through its phased approach, FoodCoP builds a collaborative framework, develops a vibrant Community of Practice (CoP), and ensures long-term sustainability by emphasizing knowledge sharing and collective learning. The project’s ultimate goal is to revolutionize the rural innovation landscape, creating resilient ecosystems that harmonize environmental stewardship with economic prosperity.

Our Role

Community of Practice (CoP) platform development

ENCO is at the forefront of developing the Community of Practice (CoP) platform for the FoodCoP project. This platform is designed to foster collaboration among Startup Villages and key stakeholders, driving innovation and sustainable growth through circular bioeconomy strategies. Serving as a dynamic hub, it connects users with European and rural networks, such as the European Startup Village Forum and Horizon Europe initiatives, while promoting knowledge-sharing and cooperation with platforms like Knowledge4Policy and the EU CAP Network. Through this initiative, ENCO aims to empower rural communities and stakeholders to co-create solutions that align with the EU’s vision for sustainability and resilience
