From 4 to 7 November 2025, ENCO will take part in ECOMONDO – The Green Technology Expo, held at the Rimini Expo Centre, to present two of its flagship EU-funded projects: SYMBA and BioSupPack.
ECOMONDO is the leading international event in Europe for the green and circular economy, acting as a unique platform that brings together industries, stakeholders, policymakers, opinion leaders, research institutions, and international organizations. Now in its 28th edition, ECOMONDO continues to be the benchmark event for the ecological transition, offering a rich and forward-looking programme filled with opportunities for companies, start-ups, researchers, innovators, and policymakers.
This year, Antonietta Pizza, Head of EU Projects Unit at ENCO and Coordinator of the SYMBA project, will present “SYMBA: Advancing Industrial Symbiosis for a Sustainable, Circular and Bio-based Europe” during the Pitch & Case Studies session of the session titled “Industrial Symbiosis in the Era of Digital and Green Transition: a systemic tool for competitiveness, innovation, and resource efficiency”.

The session, which forms part of the IX Conference of the Italian Industrial Symbiosis Network – Symbiosis Users Network (SUN), will explore how industrial symbiosis can effectively bridge the twin transitions, ecological and digital, that are reshaping today’s industrial landscape. European and national policy frameworks, such as the EU Green Deal, the National Strategy for Circular Economy (SNEC), and the Draghi Report on industrial competitiveness, all emphasize the importance of creating favourable conditions for resource sharing and optimizing material and energy flows. Technological innovation and investment incentives are key levers in this transformation.
Further momentum comes from the Clean Industrial Deal, the European Commission’s strategic plan to strengthen industrial competitiveness in response to global challenges from China and the United States, while maintaining the EU’s path toward climate neutrality. The plan promotes affordable energy access, manufacturing decarbonization, and investments in clean technologies, highlighting the crucial role of industrial symbiosis in building a more efficient and sustainable production model.
Against this backdrop, the “Industrial Symbiosis in the Era of Digital and Green Transition: a systemic tool for competitiveness, innovation, and resource efficiency” provides a valuable platform to share tools, methodologies, and case studies that demonstrate how industrial symbiosis can make Italy’s industrial system more efficient, competitive, and environmentally responsible.
